At the inquest on the Fitzroy tragedy, on Miss Sparks, the coronet said that Dawson’s story of an accidental discharge was disproved ,hy the medical evidence, which showed that the muzzle of tho revolver was placed inside the woman’s mouth and fired. [A man named Raymond Victor Dawson, twenty-fivo years of age, gave himself up to the police at the beginning of last week, and confessed to fatally shooting Vera May Sparks (aged twenty-three). Dawson said he followed the, woman into-the kitchen of a house, carrying a revolver which he supposed was unloaded. Ho jokingly said he would shoot the woman, who replied: “You could not shoot a worm.” Jestingly, he levelled the revolver and pulled the trigger. Instead of an audible click, the revolver went off, killing the woman. Dawson was arrested on a charge of murder.]
