A naturalist and writer, who is an authority on snakes, recently 6ent a good story in this relation to a newspaper. Upon the publication of the story the writer found that there were some slight Inaccuracies in the tale as sprinted. Acwrote to the editor about them. "In the first place," said he, "I stated that the snake was twenty feet long, and you had it only ten feet; long." In reply the naturalist received this apology from the editor: "Very sorry indeed for the which, however, was unavoidable. \Vc were very .much crowded for space at the time we used the Btory, and we had to cut down everything."
