KARORI BOROUGH
• MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A meeting of the Karori Borough Council was held last evening. There were present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr BG. H. Burn) and Councillors J. G. Eaine, T. Lever, E. Faire, L. P. Davies, A. Hamilton, W, C. Cooper, R. T. Pell. Accounts amounting to .£1739 12s Td were passed for payment. On the motion of the Mayor, it was decided that the attention of the tramway authorities be drawn to the fact that several motormen fail to stop their cars at Johnston street in addition to the loop. A letter was read from a ratepayer pointing put tho inconvenience which this practice caused to passengers waiting at Johnston street. The engineer’s report stated that the maintenance of street work had been carried out as nsnal. Up to the i>rcsent date sixteen : building permits had . been issued, ,of a total value , of J£"piß, the fees totalling” JE3I 12s 6d. Tlio public works and recreation ground committee recommended that a question in regard to a drain in Johnston’street be left in the hands of the borough engineer. The engineer having reported that certain wilful damage had been done by boys attending the'Catholic picnic held at Karori Park- on Boxing Day. the committee recommended that a letter be sent to the secretary setting forth' the damage done, and asking foi payment of same. In regard to. a letter from Mr W. T. ■ Hildreth applying for a water supply to his house in the main road, the committee recommended that the request be granted, Mr Hildreth to pay all expenses in laying pipes and connections, and the sum of X2s per. annum for water supply.—The report was adopted. ■ , :
