SATURDAY’S OPENING MATCH. . The match between the Wellington representatives and an eleven from Trentham camp, to be played at the Basin Reserve on Saturday next, is arousing considerable interest. The soldiers have been able to get together' a very -strong team, including Sando. man and Bennett (New Zealand and Canterbury representatives). The match, which is being played for the benefit of the fund to provide Christmas gifts for “our boys” at -the Dardanelles, is under the., patronage of His Excellency the Governor and Lady Liverpool, the Eight Hon. the Prime Minister and members of tho National Cabinet, His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Luke), and tho officers of Trentham camp. The Trentham Band will be in attendance, and a squad' from the camp will give an exhibition of bayonet-fighting during the afternoon tea adjournment. Play will commence at 1 o’clock,' and soldiers in uniform will be admitted without charge. The City Council’s gatemen arc giving their services without payment. The Trentham team will bo:—Lieutenant Hinton, Lieutenant Saxon, Lieutenant Bernam, Lieutenant Sneddon, S. 'Dempsey (N. 0.0.), H. E. Ridley (N.C.0.), Sergeant Cameron, Corporal M. P. Naughton, Private J. H.. Bennett, Private D. Sandman, G. Hawke (Camp P.M.)
