The, Speaker (Hon. C J Johnston) took the chair at 2.30 p.m. Various local bills received from the House of Representatives wero favourably reported upon and their second reudings wero fixed for to-day-LOAN AMENDMENT ACT. The Council concurred in the amendments (received by Governor's message) in the New Zealand -Loan Amendment Bill. WAR FUNDS BILL. The War Funds Bill was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. FIRST HEADINGS. The following bills were received from the other Chamber and read a first time: —'Saving Bank Amendment, Fruit Preserving industry Amendment, Scenery Preservation Amendment. Swamp Drainage, and National Provident Fund Amendmont. Tho second readings were set down for to-day. The Council then, adjourned.
