VOGELTOWN'S NEEDS
NEW HIGHWAY DEMANDED
A well-attended meeting of the Vogeltown and Mornington Municipal Electors' Association was held last night at the Masonic Hall, Brooklyn. Mr C. W. Tanner nres.ded. Tnc gathering was in connection with the proposed formation of a new road between Brooklyn and Vogeltown. Thin matter, which has been much discussed in the past, and, accojding to the majority of those present, allowed to lapse, has been keenly revived by residents of the hill suburb, and the urgent necessity of having tho work carried out was strongly advocated. Mr E. R. Mowbray stated that members of the association were under the impression that the work had been shelved, partly owing to the differences of opinion as to the route and on account of the war. It was discovered, however, on making application to the city engineer, that a route had been recommended, but it was not advisa*ble to make known its course pending the acquisition of necessary land. For tji-is reason, it would be recognised that as the plans were not available for discussion, no good object could be attained by considering at this stage the alternative schemes. It had been promised that whatever route was decided upon would be graded with a view to running a mo-tor-'bus or tram. Mr W. M. Jackson moved: —"That an influential deputation of the ratepayers of Vogeltown and Mornington attend on the City Council with reference to commencing the new road at the earliest opportunity." The motion was carried unanimous-
