CITY LEASEHOLDS
CORPORATION’S DECISIONS,
No further action is to bn taken at present to have the corporation reclaimed land surveyed, as the cost will be about £IOOO, and it will be impossible for the city engineer to carry out the work with Ins present staff. In all future leases of premises granted by the corporation, where the tenant considerably increases the value of the premises, a provision will bo inserted that in the event of the destruction of the building tile tenant should receive only a portion of the additional insurance obtained on the building as the result of his improvements, with the consent of the corporation, such proportion being fixed according to the proportion that the unexpired part ot the term bears to the whole term.
The City Council resolved last night, “ That the Gisborne Borough Council be informed, in reply to their request for the approval of this council to their proposed remit to enable local bodies to control future subdivisions of land, that in the opinion of this council their object is best met by the power to make by-laws controlling the frontage cf sections, and contained in the -Municipal Corporations Act and the power to regulate the course of streets which is contained in the Public Works Act.”
