J. Broadbelt. An apology was received for unavoidable absence from Councillors ICebbell and “Venn. CORRESPONDENCE Correspondence inwards was read and dealt with as follows: Prom G. H- Harper, writing on behalf of Mr Askew, relative to the Hautere water-race scheme, setting out the terms on. which he was prepared to sign the ratepayers’ consent for the raising _of a loan for the proposed new race, viz., that the race enter his land on Hie southern boundary about thirty chains distant from the Hautere road, and to run from that point close to the edge of the terrace in a general northerly and iwosterly direction his share of the water rate not to exceed 30& per annum. —Held over. Prom New Zealand Railways regretting it could not entertain an application for wicket rates at the Te Horo railway station.—Received. Prom diocesan treasurer stating he had been informed indirectly that rates were due by the Porirua College Trust Board; if so. he would be pleased to have details.—lnformation supplied.. From H. Taylor asking for particulars of rates struck cm certain land of his in the Otaki district.—lnformation supplied. From A. T. Beaver. Waikanae, asking for a list of rates and taxes on Mr Ransfield s property at Otaki (block 4c and 5, Pukehou). occupied by Mr Simoox. —Information suppliedFrom W. H Field. M.P., stating he had written to tho Minister for Public Works pointing out the difficulties which, judging by past experience rn tile matter, ho considered would be found to hamper the chance of establishing a River Board to take control of tho Waikanae river, and further said that he thought that the county, if empowered with the powers of a River Board could perform the functions quite as well as any board. The Minister had replied stating that a course would have to bo followed in - order to vest the control of the river in the council.- Mr Field thought the matter should receive early attention, for damage to Mr Kemsley’s property wag increasing, even though the river had not been in flood. —Left to Mr Monk to call a -meeting of all interested. NOTICE OF MOTION.

Watson-Better —That the motion passed on February 15th, 1915, giving notic© to the Wellington Hospital Board that after March 31st next this council will refuse to pay any demand for hospital and charitable aid, except for hospital treatment at, per head, is hereby rescinded. '
