The “Giornalo dVftalia” states that an Italian warship caught a stoamei belonfting to a Balkan, neutral laden with benzine and naphtha. The captain confessed that ho was waiting to deliver the cargo to a German submarine. The Italian oommstndor manned the steamer with his own bluejackets disguised as merchantmen and armed the ship with machine guns. At the appointed hour the periscope emerged and greetings were excommalld k r c f the steamer stepped forward and cried: “Take ifonr choice. Surrender or be sent to the bottom.’ . , , The Teutons were sHupefied and surrendered, and the submarine was towed to an Italian port. . ... , ’ _ It is reported that tihe Italian* destroyed three Austrian submarines ta the drat month of the wat.
