MUNICIPAL MATTERS
COUNCIL’S FORTNIGHTLY MEETING-
The' City Council held its fortnightly meeting last night, the Mayor (Mr J. P- Luke) presiding. Councillors W. H. P. Barber, L. MbTLenzic. G. Frost, J. Godber, J. Hutcheson. J. Fuller, W- H. Bennett, M., 'Buckie, E- A. Wright, W. T. Hildreth, and J. E. Fitzgerald were also present. A motion confirming the ■ rates struck at the previous meeting was passed. It was resolved that the council take into consideration the question of the consolidation of the by-laws at the earliest possible date. - It wasudecided that two tramway centre poles in : Lambton quay, opposite the Kelburn power station, be shifted. The council resolved to authorise the cancellation of all the old extraordinary water supply agreements operating in the city, and also those agreements existing for supplies from high level reservoirs, in order that new agreements in terms of By-law No. 24 (recently adopted) might bo entered into.
The city engineer was authorised to have certain protective works carried out at the Mqngatainoka river. Accounts were passed for payment as follow; —Finance committee, 454355 13s; tramways committee, £9540 Is lid; fir© brigades committee. .£7O 9s 7d; reserves committee, £36 4s Sd. At the conclusion of the ordinary meetthe count A held a special meeting to pass an order relating to the surrender and lease of lot 3, block 2, D.P. 472, Te Aro reclamation (Brailsford), which was accordingly done-
