Patutahi. was killed in action at the Dardanelles. He held a position on the wharves in Sydney, and joined the Australian contingent. An-, other Gisborne boy. Charles Morell, sou of M> 0- J. Morell. who is serving with the first Australians, is reported to have been wounded.

Lance-Corporal Jack Mills, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles, was a great favourite, and commanded (ha respect of all who knew him. His father, Mr E. Mills, resides in Jacksou street, Petone, and he and his family have received many letters of sympathy on the loss of his eldest eon. LanceCorporal Mills, who was twenty-two years of ago at the time of his death, was a school teacher by profession, and prior to joining the expeditionary force was on. the staff of the‘Levin school. He was educated -at the Petone District Higrh School. He later attended at Victoria College, where he graduated B.A.
