POLICET AND CIVIL BUSINESS. Police cases at yesterday’s sitting of tho Magistrate’s Court were taken by Mr D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. _ For insobriety, .Nicholas bcailen and John McKinnon were each fined £l, or three day’s detention; George Allen Oxspring 10s, or forty-eight hours. , , Aii’ indecent not cost Datuci I 1 jtzPatrick, £2, or fourteen days’ imprisonment. , . . An adjournment was ordered in the, case in which the inspector of awards (Mr W. Slaughter) proceeded against H. Bodlby and Sons, dairymen, .for an alleged breach of tho dairymen’s employees’ award “in that they_ failed to pay overtime rates to an' assistant for time. worked •in excess of five haul's on a Wednesday.” The hearing will be rsumed after decision is given inj another case in which the same parties are concerned. . Ada Fraser proceeded against Samuel Vogel Mason for £6 12s 8d and possession of a tenement. Judgment was dntered for plaintiff with costs £1 19s. Mr W. Perry appeared for plaintiff. ■ UNDEFENDED CIVIL CASESMr W. G. Riddell, S.M.. gave Judgment for plaintiffs by default, with costs in the following undefended civil cases:—Empire Loan and Discount Co.
