Mr E. Nicholas, chief officer of the Pateena, came ashore at Wellington yesterday on sick leave. The Komata and Kanna cleared Westport at 9.30 o'clock yesterday morning, coal-laden for Wellington. Captain Lobb. of the Canopus, arrived from Lyttelton yesterday morning by the Wahine. He intends to visit Auckland. shortly on business. The Anchor Company's steamer Waimea left Wellington yesterday afternoon on a special trip to Gisborne with rails, sleepers and explosives. She is due back here on Sunday, and will sail on the Monday for Nelson, and West Coast. The Niagara is timed to leave Sydney at 5 p.m, to-day for Auckland direct. She is due thero on Monday morning, and sails at 10 a.m- on the following day for Suva, Honolulu and Vancouver. After being delayed twelve days at Greymouth owing to the shoaling of the bar, the Kaitangata. managed to clear that port yesterday, coal-laden for .Sydney- It is reported that the vessel hud to have her cargo lightened. The Ma-oriland, Company's steamer Holmdale arrived at Tarakohe yesterday morning from Wanganui to load cement for a port not disclosed yet. Th Flora, which sails to-day for Greymouth, is due hack here again next Monday with a load of coal. The coastal steamer Wootton, which arrived at Wellington last evening from Lyttelton, brought 80 tons of produce. She sails to-day for Nydia, Bay to load for WeUington. Wellington Harbour Board shed’ U has been set apart for the Harbour Board indoor carnival and promenade concert to be held on the 26th inst. in aid of the New Zealand wounded soldiers' fund. Having just completed an extensive overhaul at Lyttelton; the John Anderson has again been commissioned. She will make frequent trips to the Banks Peninsula from Lyttelton, and it is likely that in order to keep her fully employed she will engage in the fishing industry at intervale. The Blackball Coal_ Company’s collier Ngatoro is duo at Wellington to-morrow or on Saturday from Greymouth. After discharge the vessel will go on the Wellington patent slip for cleaning and painting. Wallace, secretary of the Institute of Marine Engineers, speaking to a "Times" representative yesterday, stated that up to the present ho had been unable to discover the names of any members of the institute among the wounded or killed in, the Dardanelles campaign.

JLAMART AT HOBART. The Mamari, from London via Capetown, baa 850 tons of cargo to land at Hobart and SCOO cases of fruit ,to load for South America. The vessel commenced discharge on Tuesday afternoon, and is expected to he ready to sail for Wellington to-day. She is due here on Monday. WIMMERA LEFT HOBART. The local office of the Huddart Parker Co. has been advised by cable “that the Wimmera left Hobart at 5 p.m. on Monday for Wellington dirept. She has 1300 tons of cargo for Now Zealand, of which 550 tons will be discharged at Wellington. The vessel is expected here to-morrow evening, and will sail on Saturday for southern ports and Melbourne. On this trip the. Wimmera, leaving Bluff on Thursday, the 20th inst. will proceed direct to Melbourne. omitting the naual call at Hobart, _____ ' THE CORINNA. The Union Co.’s steamer Corinna will arrive at Wellington this morning from southern ports, and is now fixed to leave here at S P-m. to-day for Nelson and New Plymouth. The vessel is due back at Wellington on Tuesday. STAR OF SCOTLAND. The C. and D. liner Star of Scotland, due at Wellington this morning from Wanganui roadstead, will berth at the Glasgow wharf to complete Homeward loading. The vessel is to .sail at daybreak to-morrow for London via Las Palmas. . . THE ENNBRDALE. The Maoriland Co.’s steamer Ennerdalo i« to leave Wellington to-night after the completion of her overhaul, and when her cargo of cement has been loaded she will sail on Saturday or Sunday for Westport. At the West Coast port the vessel will bunker prior to sailing for Brisbane, . i ARAHURA DUE TO-MORROW-As the Arahura did not enter Greymouth until yesterday morning from Wellington via ports, the vessel’s departure on the return trip was postponed till 9 o’clock last night. She will leave Westport at 9 o’clock this morning, and Nelson this evening for Wellington direct. The vessel is therefore now expected to arrive at this port to-morrow morning. RANGATIBA FROM ST. JOHN. The Rangatira, en route from St. •John, is to leave Sydney next Mednefidav for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is expected to reach Wellington on the 28th inst. TAVIUNI HELD DP. According to the Auckland "Herald” some difficulty is being experienced in securing a stokehold crew for the Union Company’s steamer Taviuni. The ve/sel has been withdrawn from tho Ccok and Society Islands trade, and will now be employed in the coastal cargo service. By an arrangement which was made when she entered, tho Eastern Pacific trade, six firemen and trimmers were signed on. with the understanding that when she again, returned to the coastal service the stokehold crew would consist, as formerly, of three firemen and two trimmers. None of the men employed- in the- stokehold who- were signed oft the old articles on Mondav joined again. The Taviuni was to have sailed on Monday pight for Wcst-

port, but ao she was unable to obtain the, full complement of men for the stokehold she .was held up .pntil Tuesday towards midday, when the necessary men were obtained.
