The Iron Gross, which has been so ranch in evidence during: the present European conflict, is a Vrussian military decoration.' It owes its inception ■{p Frederick William 111., who. in 1813, bestowed it as a reward for eminent service in the war against Napoleon. The cross, which is of the Maltese shape, is made of iron, edged with silver.
