SALE OF CITY FREEHOLDS

To-day at 2.30 p.m. sharp, in the Chamber of Commerce, Customhouse quay, Wellington, practically the whole of the properties in the estates of tho Hon. W. B. Rhodes and Mrs S. A. Rhodes will be offered for public auction- ■ Messrs J. H. Bethune and Co., Haroourt and Co., AV. H. Turnbull and Co., and Mr S. George Nathan have been favoured with instructions to conduct the sale. It is the determination of the trustees to effect sales of the various lots offered, and in consequence reserves have been fixed at the lowest possible figure. A special advertisement giving full details of the properties to be offered, appears in this issue. It will be seen that included in the lots for auction are various main thoroughfare sections suitable for wholesale and retail premises. In the triangle formed by Lambton quay, Featherston and Grey streets, there are valuable sections with frontages to each street. As these sections join one another on the back boundary they offer special facilities for up-to-date business premises. Other sites on Lambton quay include the sections between Messrs Geo. Mee, chemist, and Whittuker Bros*, "ilk three frontages, the frontage to the quay having 42ft llin. The buildings and land known as the Golden Rule Bazaar offer another good chance. Vert fin* sections are also offered in Wakefield street (opposite Town Hall), in. Cuba street, Cornhill street, Torv street, and Tinakori road. Chief amongst the residential is “The Grange,” a most delightful home. The grounds, comprising some four acres, are tastefully laid out in garden, lawn and shrubs, and command an uninterrupted view of the harbour and city. The buyer of this lot will have the option of purchasing one or more of the ten adjoining sections. Another fine residential property is that at present occupied by Harold Beauchamp, Esq., with frontages to Fitzherbert terrace and Murphy street. Residential sites are also offered in | Wadestown and Goldie’s Brae.
