WBLSON PROTEST DISMISSED., Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, March 26. At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Swimming Association the chairman’s ruling that C. Welson, of Auckland, was an amateur was upheld. Canterbury entered a protest against Welson at the recent championship meeting at Napier, on the ground that he was a professional after hie reinstatement hy the council. Welson thereafter competed under protest. The ruling was given in response to an urgent application from the Auckland Centre for the council’s decision in the matter, end Welson thereupon competed at the subsequent Kahanamoku carnivals. _ Tho_ council unanimously endorsed his action.
