The Board of Trade returns show that during February imports increased by F 321.563, exports decreased by F 15.084.860, and re-exports decreased by F 3.419.271, as compared with the same month of last year. WHEAT MARKET WEAK. The wheat market is weak owing to heavy Argentine shipments and further weakness in America. Chicago May options are quoted at Idol 35} cents to Idol 40 cents per bushel, July options Idol 103 cents to Idol 13} cents. BUTTER. Danish butter is quoted at 138 s to 140 b □or cwt. NEW ZEALAND HEMP. The hemp market is steady. Now Zealand hemp for March-May shsipment, is quoted at F3l 10s per ton. JUTE. The jute market is quiet. Quotations for March-April shipment ar© F2l per ton; HIDES AND LEATHER. The market is dull. Queensland hides are quoted at B}d to 9 13-16 d per lb, and New South Wales at 9jd per lb. There is a steady demand for best Australian leather, which is quoted at 16d to 18id, per lb. Basils are in good demand at unchanged prices. RABBITSKINS. At the xabbitskin sales 1290 bundles were offered and 847 sold. There was little change in prices, except that better qualities declined a halfpenny. RUBBER. Fine hard Para rubber is 2s sid per lb; plantation, first latex, crepe, 2s 4id; smoked ribbed sheet. 2s sid. COPRA. Bagged South Sea copra is quoted at F 27 5s per ton for January-February shipment. ' FROZEN MEAT PRICES. The Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' weekly market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one hundred carcases of mutton or Jamb, or twenty-five quarters of beef of fair averige quality. The quotations are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipments uow on the market. At Levin on Friday a good yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward. Among the sheep were a number of lines of aged and inferior ewes, and bidding for this class was dull. Young ewes were in good demand, as also were good lambs and wethers. There was a good inquiry for steers, but female cattle were hard to quit. The principal sales effected were as under:—2so good shorn iambs, 9s 5d to 9s 7d; 150 medium shorn lambs, 7s; 220 medium

shorn lambs. 8e 4d; medium woolly lambs, 5s Id; cull lambs, 5s to 5s 8d; 2 and 4-tooth ewes, 16s 6d to 16s 9d; 6-tooth owes, 17s 6d; 4 and 5-year-old ewes (low condition), 11s to 12s 6d; a mixed line of 200 2 and 4-tooth wethers made 18s 3d. Loan and Mercantile Agency. At the Dannevirke sale on I'riday a good yarding of sheep came forward, and a medium one of cattle. With the exception of fats, which sold at late rates, cattle were hard to quit. Bidding for sheep also was very dragging. We, however, with the exception of one pen, cleared the whole of our entry. We quote:—2-tooth ewes, 16s 7d and 13s; mixed aged ewes, 13s 6d, lls 2d, and 10s 10d; mixed aged ewes (low conditioned), 7s; 4 and 6-tooth ewes, 16s 2d; lambs (small), 6e 6d, 6s, and 4s 9d. FEILDING MARKET REPORT. A- H. Atkinson and Co.. Ltd., sold on Friday a small yarding of pigs at prices lower than last week- There was little competition for any lines offering. Fruit sold well; some 300 cases being disposed of. Potatoes were easier. Quotations: —'Weaner pigs, 4s, 6s, 8s; slips, 8s 6d to 10s; porkers, 80s to 365; stores, los to 16s 6d; aged horses, to X 3 10s.
