RUSSIAN AVIATOR’S EXPLOIT
HOW A PRISONER WAS KEPT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, March 5. The Russian aviator who captured the survivor of an Austrian patrol party, having no other way of keeping the prisoner, tied him to the tail frame of the aeroplane, jettisoned his stock (the aviator’s) pf bombs and started back for tho Russian lines, flying over the Austrians amidst a storm of bullets. The airman noticed that the prisoner had loosened one hand and was trying to cut the ropes with a knife. A blow on the head stunned the prisoner, and the airman delivered mm safely. iA previous message stated:—Pascfia- - an aviator with General Ivanolf s army in Poland, accompanied by a mechanic, made a reconnaissance. I Ucy descended, owing to trouble with their motor, behind the Austrian lines. While effecting repairs they opened fire with a machine gun, killing five out of six of an Austrian patrol. The survivor surrendered and was taken aboard the aeroplane to tho Kussian iinos.J
