FIRE BRIGADESMEN

END OF ANNUAL COMPETITIONS. Prui Association. TIMARU, February 27. There were so many competitors in the two events at the tire brigades competitions yesterday that the results were not known till 4 p.m. The unfinished event was completed this morning, with the following results: Hose and hydrant—Hillside Railway 1, Timaru 2, Marton 3. In the first run Hillside and Timaru tied, and in the run-off Hillside won. Tho competitions were completed today in tine weather. The results were; Disabled event (five men) —Carterton, Imin 43 3-ssec (plus 4sec ''pen.), 1; Timaru, Imin 49 1-osec, 2; Hastings, Imin 47 2-osec-(plus 4sec), 3; Hillside Railway, Imin 52 l-ssec (plus laec), 4. Twenty teams competed. Hose, hydrant, and union (five men) —Mornington 50 l-ssec (clean), 1; Hillside Railway, 48 l-ssec (plus 2sec), 2; Hastings, 50sec (plus Isec), 3; St. Kilda, 50 l-ssec (plus 2sec), 4. Twentynine competed. Consolation—Waibi, 41 2-ssec, 1; Taumarunui, 42 l-ssec, 2;. Newmarket Railway, 44 l-ssec, 3; Geraldine and Dargaville, 44 '4-ssec, divided fourth prize. Twenty-seven competed. Tho points for the chief prizes are: Championship and High Pressure Shield —Timaru, 59; Hillside Railway, 38; Carterton, 32; Hastings, 26; Dunedin South, 23; St. Kilda, 22; Hawera, 19; Mornington, 17; Napier, 10; Timaru Railway, 8; Spit, 8; Taumarunui, 8; Caversham, 5; Devonport, 5; Hamilton, 4; Hokitika, 3; Gore, 3; Waitara, 3; Dargaville, 2; Palmerston North, 2. Manual Shield—Timaru, 35; Hastings, 16; Dunedin South, 12; Spit, 12; St. Kilda, 10 ; Napier, 10; Christchurch Railway, 8; Hawera, 8; Hokitika, 5; Taihapo, 5; Hamilton, 4; Geraldine, 4; Gore, 3; Waitara, 3; Palmerston, 1; Devonport, ij.; Mornington, 1. Other shields were won as follow : Simples shield, Carterton; Merryweather shield, Carterton; Speight shield, Timaru.
