PEOPLE'S DAY. Special to the "Times."

MASTEETON, October 29.

“People’s day" at the Carterton show drew a large attendance, the weather being beautifully fine. In draughts the champion stallion was the Donald Estate’s Buchlone Favourite. Donald’s Estate was also awarded the champion prize in m-aros, and altogether took nine firsts. Other first prizes went to A. Tocker (2), J. Standen, Blatchford Bros., and E. A. Miller. In the hack and harness classes; first prizes were won by W. Hercock, ELamb, F. B. Eosson, E- MacLaren, G. Jensen, \V. D. Watson F. Clancy (2), Wilton Bros. (3), Shaw and Son, H. Hassall (2 firsts and challenge cup for best hack in the show), Miss B. Warren (2), E- Campbell F. Evans, Phoebe Martin, G. A. Fenwick, G. Shaw, Miss M. •Watson and Mies Mackenzie. In thoroughbred stallions C. McCulloch was awarded first prize with Conqueror. In cheese the first prizes went to the Taratahi Company and Dalefield (2). ■ In butter first prizes were won by Mesdamee J. Hodge, J. B. McKenzie, A. Hawke, Mies M. Hudson, and Messrs Nikoliuson and Son. In home industries the first prizes went to Mesdames O. H. Anderson, F. Wadham, J. B. McKenzie, A. King, John McKenzie, F. J. Eathbone, A. C. Feast. A. E. Hadfield, A. F. Pink, and J. M. Beeohy, and the Mieses Warrington, E. Hawke, J. McGill, D. Humphries, N. Harvey and M. Humphries. In milkers first prizes were won by E. Eagle, jnnr., J. Ordish (2) and Mis J. H, 'Barlow.

First prize winners in dogs were: — Collie dogs :*■ T. P. Campbell (Stronvar), T. Eeid (Clareville), D. Anderson (Waingawa), J. Crew (Carterton), H. Catt (Carterton), Mrs T. G, Webb (Masterton, 2), James Hodge (Gladstone), J- M. Boechey JClareville). Irish setters: Mrs B. Standen (Carterton). Pointers: W. J. Stevens (Carterton). Fox terriers: J. Madeley (Masterton), Stephen Bishop (Clareville). Spaniels: A. A. Cameron (Masterton), Mrs M. McLennan (Carrington). Pugs: E, Hatch (Masterton, 2), Miss E. Booth (Carterton), Mrs H. Morrison (Awatoitoi).

The girls’ riding competition resulted: —M. Watson (Masterton), 1; J. Perry, 2; M. Perry. 3. Boys' riding competition —E. I’yan., Hunters’ jumping—H. Hassall’s Micky Free, 1; B. Westmoreland's Minola, 2; N. Cadwallader’s Bluebell, 3. Driving competition—J. W. Compton, 1; C Kiddie, 2- Champion jump—B. Short’s Scout. 1; N. Cadwallader’s Bluebell, 2; E. D. Morrison’s Grey Gown, 3.
