SEVERAL GERMAN RAIDS RAIDERS DEFEATED AND FORCED TO .RETIRE. (Received October 6, 9.30 p.m.) . LONDON, October 5. The Press ttureau reports that during September several German raids wore made on British territory, and attempts made to out the Uganda railway. With the exception of an unimportant frontier station to which it was inconvenient to send troops, all the raiders were defeated and forced to retire. 'Die garrisons in East Africa and Uganda have been now strengthened by strong bodies of Indian troops and counted local volunteer forces.
