LOAN SCRIP IN PAYMENT

CONTRACTS NOT TO BE RESPECTED.

LONDON, September 30. German firms owing money to Bradford exporters have that they are investing the amounts in the German war loan and sending the scrip to Bradford, in jiayment of trade debts.

As the Bradford exporters require £1,750,000 from Germany and Austria the intimation has caused dismay. The Germans have intimated that they will not respect contracts made prior to the war. The Bradford Chamber, of Commerce has resolved to ask the Government to relieve export merchants by making advances against approved foreign trade debt® to the extent of 76 per cent. . • _ ~ , The total debts owing to Bradford and district, including American, are now estimated a i £6,000,000.
