MANAWATU BEAT WELLINGTON. As a curtain raiser to the big match an eleven representing Manawatu met and defeated a Wellington team. On the whole, the visitors deserved their wui, they having a slight superiority in the forward line. For the winners, the Misses N. Whatley. Hancock and Collin gwood scored. While Miss Dobbyn and Miss N. Lang netted for the losers. The best same on the field was played by the visitors’ right wine. Mies hi. Whalley, who pleased the crowd immensely with spectacular work of a particularly high order. For Wellington, Misses H. Laurenson, N. Lang, and E. Smith played well; also Miss uren. who was right in form, and played “the boat defensive game on the field. Manawatu’s goalkeeper was also particularly safe. Messrs Hobson and Keall were the referees.
