BUSINESS AT QUARTERLY MEETING. '

The quarterly meeting of the Petone Fire Board was held yesterday afternoon, when there wore present: -Mosers J. W. MoEwian (chairman), E. Mothes, C. H- Smith, H. E. Kompthorno and F.; B. P, China. , It was resolved to raise a messenger, who had been a. member of the brigade for four years to t fie rank of fireman when a vacancy occurs. In the case of a fireman who may he absent from duty; for seven days or longer on account of oiokness or through other causes, it was resolved that the question of payment be treated on the merits of each case that comes before the board. ■ ‘ „ . Depper reported that the brigade had received two calls during the past quarter, one being a false alarm.
