At Addington live stock market there were small entries of fat stock and or Store sneep, but a fair attendance. Pat sheep also sold several shillings per (h°ad better than last week, and young store sheep also realised improved prices. The maerket for both beef and mutton is considered to be the dearest ever held in the partis. DUNEDIN, September 30. At Burnside to-day 241 fat cattle were yarded. The entry comprised a number of well-finished cattle. Freezing buyers were operating for suitable sorts, which had a steadying effect on the prices. Tiro sale opened at prices showing a drop of Ite to 15s on last week’s rates, hut as it progressed values hardened up to almost last week’s level. Extra heavy bullocks made to £23, heavy £io to £l7 10s, medium £l2 to £l3 6s. light £lO to £ll. extra heifers to £l9 10s. prime cows and heHers £l2 to £l4, good £lO to £ll 10s, light £6 10s to £B. * * ■ Fat Sheep—lß73 penned. This small yarding included a good proportion of only moderate quality. The demand for prime well-finished sheep was keen, and prices for this class showed- an advance of Is to Is 6d per head. Medium quality were not competed for quite so keenly, and sold at about last week’s rates. Prime wethers 28e .to 3is, extra to 34s 6d. good 24s ,to 25a, medium 21s 6d to 22s 6d, extra heavy ewes to 32s 6d, prime 22s'to 24-s, medium 18s. 6d to 20s. Fat lambs—Eight spring lambs of nice quality were penned, and they realised up to 275. ‘ Pigs.—63 fat pigs and 160 stores were penned and sold at about last week’s rates. PRICE OP KEROSENE. The Vacuum Oil Company, Ltd., report: —On August 22nd we were, forced to advance our selling prices of kerosene throughout Australia and New Zealand, intimating at the time that we hoped the advance would be of a temporary nature only. According to mail advices from New York, the general freight market was in a deplorable condition, although, according to the latest cable advices from New York the position is somewhat easier, and whilst freight rates ore, still considerably higher than they were before the declaration of war between Great Britain and Germany, we feel that we are now in a position to fulfil the promise made by us on August 22nd to reduce our selling prices of kerosene directly we were able to pet the trnb strength ot the situation in respect to future case oil supplies. We have, therefore, decided on a general reduction in our selling prices of kerosene throughout Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately, as follows: — White rose kerosene, 150 test, reduced by 2d per case. Laurel kerosene, 150 test, reduced by 2d per case. Tea rose kerosene, 130 test, reduced by 5d per case. Petrolito kerosene, 130 test, reduced by 5d ner case.

The Customs revenue received at Wellington during (.he past month totalled £61,001 19s sd. as comnared w<th £B4 743 16s 6d, the amount collected during September of last year. The beer duty received during the past month amounted to (£1192 16s 4d. as aerainst £1221 2s 4d. the return for September 1913. Yesterday’s Customs return amounted to £1033 Is Id.
