There was a time when an occasion of this sort was marked by a parade of the United States troops at the Presidio, which immediately adjoins the - Exposition grounds, but this feature is now minimised for the reason that most of the United States army, with the exception of the Coast Artillery, is scattered along the Mexican border. The sites of the' Australian and New Zealand buildings are among the most advantageous on the grounds. They are just opposite to. thaf of the French Government and are immediately south of the Palace of Fine Arts.
