SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS. HARBOURS SEALED AT NIGHT, Tho Government has issued a notice through tho Marino Department that' commencing to-night the lights at Pencarxow Head (Wellington), Godley Head (Lyttelton), Taiaroa Head (Otago) and Cape Foulwind (West Coast) lighthouses will bo extinguished until further notice. The Marine Department has also requested the harbour boards at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Westport to extinguish all harbour lights showing seaward, commencing to-night,, until further notice.

No vessels will be permitted to entei the tbove-named ports at night-time but some may be allowed, to leave though solely at their own risk. This instruction also comes into force this evening. . .
