AT. Falour, a- vi l lager of OlawW saignes, France, undertook for a wager of 4s 2d to eat fifty eggs and a pound of bread at one sitting. He managed to get through thirty-six eggs without much trouble, and after this he ate with great difficulty, and at the forty* fifth egg he fell down dead. It is estimated that the value of the plants exhibited at the Royal Hor-t-cultural Society’s great spring show, held at Chelsea, was not less than £700,000. In one marquee known as the “two-acre tent” the exhibits alone were worth half a million, the orchids accounting for no less than £24,000. .f
