ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES

BAIL FIXED AT '£6ooo. Press Association. > AUCKLAND, July 24. At the Police - Court,-William Leslie Belot was charged with having obtained £8 10s from a local drapery firm ■by false pretences. It was stated- that sixteen other charges would bo preferred. On tho case being adjourned and application made 'for bail, the Magistrate said accused had left New Zealand for Australia and “skipped” his hail there, so that though entitled to bail as a right, it must be in a, prohibitive amount. It would be himself in £2OOO, one other surety of £2OOO, and two in £IOOO each.
