CHAMPIONSHIP BOUTS RESULTS OF THE FINALS OF THE TOURNEY. Press Association. WANGANUI, July 24. Tho New Zealand amateur boxing championship bouts were concluded tonight before a packed house. Additional results of semi-finals, and the finals, arc as follow: — bantam-weights. A. C. Venus (Wanganui) beat Conway (Waikato) on points. J. Harrhy (Otago) beat H. Gunn (Timaru) on points. Final. Harrhy beat Venus on points after a capital contest very cleanly fought, FEATHER-WEIGHTS. J. W. Oliver (Wellington) beat J. Newsome (Taumarunui) on points. A. Goodman (Otago) beat N. Bennetts (Auckland) on points. Final. Goodman beat Oliver on points in a splendidly-contested bout. LIGHT-WEIGHTS. J. Musson (Greymouth) beat G. Thomas (Wanganui) on points. M. James (Auckland) knocked out J. Stewart (Timaru) in the second round. Final. James beat Mussen on points. Mussen lost the use of his rigut arm at tho commencement of the last round, and James won easily on points. WELTER-WEIGHTS. L. Wills (Taranaki) beat Kelland (Taumarunui) on points. Heenfey (Gisborne) knocked out Hunter (Wellington) in tho first round. Final. Hconey beat Wills on points by a narrow margin after a splendid fight. MIDDLE-WEIGHTS. ~ A. Wood (Invercargill) beat W. Dickson (Taumarunui) on points. ,P. Manning' (Christchurch) beat E. Tyson (Otago) on points. Final. Wood beat Manning. The Christchurch man was down several times in tho last round, and the referee stopped the fight a minute before time. HEAVY WEIGHTS. Tho heavy-weight final on Thursday night is reported ns follows by the “Chronicle”:— C. Savory (Auckland), 13.7 r. Iggulden (Wairarapa), 12. 2—.iggulden set the judges going by scoring with a left. Then Savory opened out and planted a couple of lefts into his opponent’s face. The Wairarapa man got back with a couple of lefts and a swinging right. Commencing the second Ground Savory assumed the offensive, and the pair stood up to it, Iggulden receiving three punches on the head. Iggulden retaliated, and a lively bout of exchanges followed, Savory generally having the better of it. Give .and take was meted out, and taken. Savory having the advantage.’ His opponent was doubtless relieved when thp gong went. Iggulden failed to too the mark in the third round, an injured arm compelling him to give in to the northerner.
