HOROWHENUA NOTES
From Our Own Correspondent. OTAKI, July 13. Mr T. P. Sohlager, of Foxton, was on Friday seized with an attack- of blindness. He was taken to the Wellington hospital for treatment. Mr Schiagor has recently undergone several operations for cataract. Mr B. R- Gardener, Mayor of Levin, has had a strenuous time of late, and only returned from* 'Wellington on Friday night, after attending several meetings for the welfare of this dis trict. Ho returned to the Empire City on Monday evening, and will attend another series of meetings. For procuring liquor at Levin during the currency of a prohibition order, Tibi Aterangi was fined £2, with coats 7s; while Hanita Hinait, for sup plying the liquor, was fined £5 and costs 12s. For supplying a native woman with liquor Frank Farley was fined £5, costs 7s. Mr A. A. Paape, official organiser oi the “Reform” party, will be in Levin on tho 18th inst. to attend tho conference of delegates from the different brandies of tho Reform League. Mr H. J. Richards, chairman of ths Horowhenua County Council, returned from Wellington on Friday night, after attending the conference. Mr W. McKegg, chairman of the Otaki Town Board, has also been attending the conference at Wellington.
