PUBLIC TRUST DANCE

The annual dance of the Public Trust Orlico was held lost evening ai -he concert chamber of tbs Town Hah, and passed oit very successfully. There were just as many dancers as the boo; could comfortably accommodate, ana all tho guests appeared to enjoy than) selves very much. Tho music. Cow ley’s orchestra, was delightful, ana supper was arranged in the corridor, which was prettily drapetj with flags. The tables were decorated with bowt of-white narcissi and birch. Tho sta:,-. was cosily furnished, and pot plants and palms were used for decorations Tho chaperons were Lady Ward, who wore a gown of oyster grey and silvei brocade whh a roseate of emerald green; Mrs Herdman, in black ninon over gold; Mrs Fitchett, wearing silver grey crepe-de-chine and chitfon Mrs Itonaldson, m black silk; MnFordham, also wore black. Miss Barnett wore white ninon over rose pink • Miss Soddon, black velvet gewn. TJucommittee members were Mrs Masters in pale blue ninon and jewelled net. Miss G. Mclnernoy, in white satin and bands of swansdown; Miss Gibson, a black velvet gown with corsage ami sleeves of jewelled net and a crimson rose at tho waist; Miss Oaddick worn pale blue silk; Miss Mackay, rosesatin and net tunic; Miss Moon, cf the Public Trust Office in Christchurch, wore a white satin gown and lactoverdess. The Hon. A. L. Herdmau and Dr. Fitchett were present. Tho committee men were:—Messrs Brotherton, Egglestone, Groville, Macalister McGowan, Watters, Zachariah, and Dinnie. Conspicuous amongst the pretty decorations was Civil Service football challenge with the colours, black and red, twined round the stem. This trophy the Public Trust Office have proudly p<s>essed fer the last four years, having beaten allcomers in the Civil , c ej vi<-e.
