NEW SOUTH WALES DINNER

Two hundred guests attended the New South Wales dinner at the Hotel Cecil, including Mr Lewis Harcourb (Secretary of State for the Colonies), Lord Emmett (Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies), Sir George Reid (High Commissioner for the Commonwealth), the Australian Agents-General, Mr Ewing, Mr Carmichael (New South Wales Minister for Public Instruction), Mr Hollis, M> Leslie Wilson, Sir Robert Nivison, and Mr David George. Mr T. A. Coghlan, Agent-Genera; for New South \Vales who presided, said the prosperity of New South Wales during the past ten years had been the most rapid in the State’s history. Its indebtedness in relation to its resources was never lighter* Mr Carmichael justified the Government's efforts in the educational, industrial, and financial spheres.
