An interestin', - collection of pictures is now being shown in the gallery of McGregor Wright's. The works on exhibition include oil. water colour, ana pastel paintings, bv C. E. Bickerton, who spent several years in Europe 'studying in Enaland and Paris. There are many Continental scenes and some excellent pastel sketches of light effects on the West Coast, and in Auckland, where Mr Bickerton has recently been superintending the decorations for the Auckland Exhibition. , The art of doing it not merely talking and when unt into practice a,s it is b” K. V. Shearer, the Hutt draper, is suro to bring about good results. Just now he is “doing things'’ at his winter sale, which moans something quite out of the ordinary in the way of drapery- bargains. His advertisement appears in this issue. As will be seen according to the advostisement, Mr Beg. Williams, .of the Freedom League will lecture in the Peoples Picture Palace, to-morronv- evening; on the subject of "Anti-Militarrism."
