PUNISHMENT FOR ARSON
Press Association. DUNEDIN, May 19. In the Supreme Court this morning Alfred William Aldred, convicted at Oamaru of arson, was brought up for sentence. The jury found Aldrod guilty. The point was • reserved for the Appeal Court as to whether he was mentally responsible for his actions, and the court confirmed the verdict. Air Justice Sim sentenced the prisoner to six months’ imprisonment, and ordered him to ho afterwards detained for reformatory treatment for a period not exceeding five years.
