LONDON, April 2; A significant statement was made in, the House of Commons yesterday by. me Parliamentary Secretary to tne Board of Trade as to the importation of coal into this country from Ger-i many. In answer to Sir J. D. Rees,i the Unionist member for East Nottingham, Mr Robertson said: “I am informed that considerable, quantities of German gas coal have been purchased for the manufacture of gas in London. This is'no doubt, due to considerations of price, but| I am unable to discriminate between! the causes which may at tho moment have rendered the German more favourable than tho English market as a source of supply for London gas works.
