The Minister said tho department was now considering the question, of duplication of tho lino through the tunnel. His officers strongly advised that duplication was absolutely necessary, and this session he proposed to introduce a bill giving powor to borrow a considerable sum of money to carry out railway works at Wellington, Auckland, Lyttelton. Cltristc.hurob, Invercargill, and other places where there was congested traffic.
