Ton are authorised hr the Army Council to inform the officers of the Cavalry Brigade. that the. Army Council are satisfied that the incident ■which has arisen in regard to their resignations has been duo to a misunderstanding. It is tbo duty of all soldiers to obey lawful commands given to them through the proper channel by the Army Council, either for the protection .of public property and support of the cavil power in the event of disturbances or fog the protection of the lives and property of the. inhabitants. This is the only point it wae intended to be put to the oflicers in the questions of the General Officer Commanding; and tho Annv Council have been glad to loam from ton that there never has boon and never will be in the brigade anv question of disobeying such lawful orders. . „ . . His Majesty R Government must retain -th,eir right to use all the forces of the Crown in Ireland or elsewhere to maintain law and order and to support tho civil newer in tho ordinary execution of its dntv. , , But they have no intention whatever of taking advantage of this Fight to crush political opposition to tho policy or principles of tho Home W« Bill. j'.E.
