SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS
Press Association. FOXTON, May 5. At a well-attended meeting of householders the outgoing school committee reported a credit balance of £29 odd. The following committee was elected: —Messrs Horn-blow (chairman for the sixth year), Betty, Perreau, Kent, Johnstone, Henderson, Hussey, Chrystall, 'Woods, and Thompson. Resolutions were carried asking the board for increased accommodation and for improvements to the master’s residence.
CHRISTCHURCH, May 5. A feature of the school committee elections yesterday was the appointment in seven cases of women as members. They were mainly nominated on behalf of the W.C.T.tJ. AUCKLAND, May 5. Extraordinary interest was taken in the school committee elections, resulting in crowded meetings at the city and suburban schools, owing to the activity of the Civic League, which nominated women for the various districts. The league succeeded in securing representation on the city and several suburban committees.-
