WIRELESS OPERATOR’S CASH,
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrigm NEWCASTLE, March 14, Dr Mawson states that Jeffreys was one of the party left ashore at Commonwealth Bay to work the wireless apparatus. His health, failed, and bis mental condition showed weakness. He began to dispatch extraordinary messages, and was relieved of the wireless duties. Dr Maclean spared no pains to afford him relief, and he appeared to recover. When he landed at Adelaide he seemed quite normal. He .was paid off, and intended returning to his homo at Toowoombo. ■ *. [Mr Sydney Jeffreys, the. wireless operator of the Mawson expedition, was found in an exhausted and semi-dement-ed condition in the bush, where he had been wandering for six days practically foodiess. He was removed to Ararat asylum. - ] ■
