The Eiverina, which. arrived at Auckland at 10 a.m. yesterday from Sydney, brought 78 first, 33 second and 49 thirdclass passengers and 1100 tons of cargo. Tho Auckland ketch Vindex has been purchased by Mr Dunne, of Nelson, from Biddiok Brothers. The Vindex is a useful type of draft, built at Auckland in 1897. Her principal dimensions are: Length 80ft 6in, breadth 20ft Bin, and depth 3ft 2in. She is on her way from Auckland to Nelson under command of Captain At Berridge. The Vindex is to be need, in the Marlborough Sounds trade.

The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s chartered steamer Langholm is expected to leave Wellington on Wednesday for Auckland to complete Homeward loading 1 . The vessel is timed to leave Auckland on March 25th for London. Captain Thomson (harbourmaster at Ihinodini hag received word that the cruiser Philomel will not arrive at that port until a week later than was at first anticipated. She was due to arrive at Dunedin on Saturday from Lyttelton, but she will remain at the latter port for another week, and is to arrive at Dunedin next Saturday. The Orari is timed to leave Wellington to-morrow at 5 p.m. for London via ports. The Ngakuta is to leave Wellington to-day for Qreymouth to load, again for Wellington. The coastal steamer Mangapapa, which left Wellington on Saturday night for Westport and Karamea, is expected back at Wellington about the end of this week, Mr A. Cameron, chief engineer of the liner Banffshire, is onlv 28 years of age. and joined the Shire Company's service less than seven years ago. He is a native of Dumbarton. The Government steamer Hinemoa left the Bluff.last night for West Coast and Wellington. She is due here about tomorrow week. Mr A. MoMaster baa joined the Kauri as chief engineer, in place of Mr A. Sadler. Mr E. J. Seaton has joined the Kauri ns third officer, in place of Mr K. Nicholas. The Maoriland Company's steamer Holmdale left Wanganui on Friday with a full load of live stock for Greyraouth. At the latter port she trill load timber for Gisborne again. Mr G. Yesterday afternoon the IT.S. and A. chartered steamer Argenfels arrived at Wellington from New York via tralia and Auckland. After, discharging part cargo the vessel will sail to-morrow for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Argenfels subsequently proceeds to Newcastle. SUFFOLK ARRIVED. At 10 o’clock yesterday morning the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Suffolk arrived at Wellington .from London via Auckland. The vessel bermed at the King’s *.-harf and after putting out part cargo will proceed on to Nelson with the remainder. The SunoJK will load at Nelson. Waitara, Tokomaru Bay and Lyttelton, and will leave Lyttelton about April 6th for London. THE MAYFLOWER. S.' Wood and Son have received the contract for the cohversion of the Blackball Coal Company’s schooner Mayflower into a hulk, and the work is now well in hand J. J. Niven and Co. have contracted to supply the donkey, boiler, etc., for the vessel. CLAN MACLAEEN. The Scales liner Clan Maclaren arrived at Bluff at 1 P-m. yesterday from Port Pirie to load wool at New Zealand ports. The vessel is to sail at 5 pjn-to-day for Dunedin, and will probably cal] subsequently at Timaru on her way to Wellington. The Clan Maclaren will leave this port for Hamburg, Dunkirk and Antwerp. EILEEN WAJRD ARRIVES. The Westport Harbour. Board's suction dredge Eileen Ward arrived at Wellington at 11.20 a.m. yesterday from Westport to go on the Wellington patent slip to-morrow for her annual overhaul. The dredge left Westport at H a.m. on Saturday. and had a fine weather run excepting for a fog encountered off Stephen Island which deleyad the vessel for three hours.
