It is reported in Texas that the body of an executed American recovered by the Texan Rangers was not that of Vergara, the Texan rancher who was lured across the frontier by the Mexican Federal troops. It is stated that Mexicans sold an unknown corpse to the Rangers. Vergara’s wife insists that the body is her husband’s.
