Hannay) play, “General John Regan,” was acted' at Westport, whore Mr Hannay was rector for twenty years. Four hundred persons attacked the company, broke tbe windows of their hotel, stormed the stage, and smashed the scenery.

The police dispersed them with their batons. The demonstrations are due to the belief that “Ballymoy” of tbe play was Westport.
