EMPERADOR WINS THE CUP. Press Association. lIAWERA, February 4. 'Tiio Egmont Racing Club’s summer meeting was opened at the Hawera course to-day. Heavy rain fell during the early morning, but the weather cleared later, and with the exception of some slight showers, remained favourable. Tho track was in good order, ami there was a largo attendance. The totalisator investments amounted to £17,7G5 10s, arj increase of £dß7 10s over tho corresponding day last year. At tho six furlong post, Jackman headed Katua, and along the back went on m front of Huia and Warea, Huia was in front at tho second to last fence, with Katua making a forward move, and the last-named pair jumped the last fence on terms.
