Mothers! Do you realise the Danger of Using Cow’s Milk? Extract from “N.Z. Times” of August 12th, 1,913. dealing with the report submitted to Parliament by Dr. Maclaurin, Dominion Analyst — ADULTERATION OF MILK. "372 Samples of ’milk’ were tested. Concerning the Wellington tests it was found that one quarter of the samples were found ei her to be deficient in fat, to contain boric acid, or to be diluted with water to an average extent of nearly 10 per cent. Milk is, in thousands of instances the staple food—often the only food—of infants and invalids. The quality of a milk supply may mean life or death. There has been established in the Dominion Analyst’s report the urgent need for drastic measures.” Extract from “Evening Post” of August 28th, 1913 —a tele- ' grafn from Christchurch, which reads — 1 SPREAD OF TUBERCULOSIS. URGENT ATTENTION DEMANDED. • **- “The danger of the spread of tuberculosis from infected milk was again discussed by the Christchurch Hospital Board to-day. Some months ago the Board had rather alarming reports before it on the subject. To-day the chairman of the Board reverted to the subject, and members were virtually unanimous in demanding that the Government give the question urgent attention. Recent statistics show that in certain parts of the Dominion, 25 per cent, of dairy farm cattle were found to be carrying the germs of that dread disease —tuberculosis. The milk you are now giving baby may contain these germs. For this reason you should use GLAXO —the ideal food for baby. It is prepared under the most hygienic conditions, and sterilised so that the presence of germ life is rendered impossible. GLAXO is made from the pure, sterilised milk of cows which have passed the Government test. It is the only perfect substitute for Mother’s Milk, for it contains all the properties necessary for. the growing frame of the child, including full cream and lactose, modified to such an extent that it is almost equal to mother’s milk.
