NAVAL DISASTER
IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL SERVICE. U y Telegraph—Preas Association—Copyrlshl (Received December 23, 5.5 p.m.) . LONDON, December 25. An impressive and unprecedented funeral service took place at Portsmouth over tbo unrecoverable remains of the signalmen killed in the recent semaphore tower disaster. All tbo ships in port were halfmasted, and after tho church, tho relatives, naval and military authorities, and contingents from all tho warships marched in precession, to tho ruins of tho semaphore tower, whore the dockyard workmen assembled and •‘Last Post” volleys were given. It is understood that tho signalman Pools perished in an effort to save tho secret signal books.
