UNITED BUILDING SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of thd United Building Society of Welling-i ton was held last evening. Mr Her-t bert KaTwson presided. Some difficulty* was at first experienced in. getting m. quorum, but finally the requisite numher attended and the meeting waa proceeded with. The report stated that the profit fof the year in the first fund was £l3oi 2s 2d. and in tho second £144 11s Id/ The balance at the credit of the pro/ fit and loss account was £4156 6s lid,. During the year two appropriations, had been held in tho first fund, on« by ballot and the other by sale, the latter yielding a profit of £270. An. appropriation by sale in tho second, fund had realised a profit of £215/ As suggested by tho directors in their previous annual report, they had submitted proposals for tho amalgamtu tion of tho first and second funds. la accordance with this proposal special meetings of the members of the first and second funds had been held, and the proposals for amalgamation as submitted by the directors had been adopCed, and had taken effect on May l»t, 1913. One appropriation by ballot had been held in the amalgamated fund f and the directors, hoped to have aa appropriation sale early in the new year. Air J. A. Tripe suggested that aa increase should be made in the remu-i aeration of the secretary. Tho chairman explained that the matter had already been dealt with, and the increase approved by tho directors. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected) —Directors, Messrs J. D. Sievwright and A. Young; auditors, Messrs B, W. Hunt and A. T. Clarke; secretary, Air E. R. Dymock.
