SUM OP £48,000 PROVIDED THIS YEAR. The Public Works Estimates, presented to Parliament yesterday, contain an item of £35,000 required to be voted this year for the new Parliament buildings and alteration to grounds (on account). The sum ol £20,000 was voted last year, and £15,841 expended. The liability on March 31st last was £1553. Six thousand pounds (on account) is provided this year for tho alterations to streets surrounding Parliament grounds, an against £9OOO -last year, of _ which £2944 was expended. The item o'c £7OOO for the purchase of land at Quinton’s corner again appears, only £2l having been expended. The total estimated expenditure on the new Parliament buildings and grounds for 1913-14 is £48,000,
