From Our Own Correspondent. October 22. At the meeting of members of the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society presentations wore made to members of the society. Mr H. H. Donald (chairman), in a neat speech referred to the excellent services miss 1 1 ich.arils had rendered the societj as pianiste. On behalf of the members he presented Miss Richards with a large oak-framed mirror, and from tne society with an honorarium. Tin= gifts were suitably acknowledged by Mr C. Smith, on behalf of Miss Richards. Mr Harry Hall, stage manager for the society, was then presented with a substantial cheque, the proceeds from the benefit performance of “The Geisha” tendered to him. Reference was made to the invaluable work Mr Hall had carried out on behalf of the society. Mr Hall acknowledged the presentation in a suitable manner. Cheers were then given for the respective recipients. Messrs W. M. Easthope and D. Threadwell have been appointed to attend the sub-district council as delegates from the Masterton Rechabite Lodge. At Kaiwaiwai on Wednesday Miss Julia Gundy, eldest daughter of Mr J. S. Cundy, of Kaiwaiwai, was married to Mr Colin Speed, of Waikato. Messrs A. H. Krahagen and T. G. Underhill have been re-elected directors of the Wairarapa Brick and Tile Company. Mr G. W. Wardrop has been appointed secretary of the Woodville Athletic Society, Messrs H. R. Rose, G. W. Wardrop and J. A. Nicholas handicappers, and Mr J. A. Nicholas starter. At the Carterton S.M. Court Frederick Hunter pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking and entering at Carterton, and was committed to the Wellington Supreme Court for sentence. The Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society made a profit of £4O over their production of "The Geisha” this season.
