KILLED BY A TAXI
CORONER’S VERDICT BLAMES DRIVER. Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 21. Circumstances connected with thd death of Thomas Clemond Thorpe, who was knocked down by a motor car and killed on Sunday, were investigated by the coroner to-day. The accident oar curred on the Mangere road, a grouj> of youths being overtaken by a taxi cab and one of them (the deceased) being knocked down and fatally injured. The coroner found that deceased died as the result of “injuries received through being struck and run over by a motor car driven by one George Hopkins, and that the said George Hopkins was guilty of (1) trying to pas* too close to the deceased when there was ample room and (2) giving insuffi/ cient warning of his approach.”
